What Skylight praise sounds like (VOC · Wirecutter / Taste of Home)
Wirecutter’s hands-on framing is glanceability — a second brain kids will check. Mental-load offload via pointing at the wall is the same hire. Taste of Home echoes morning chaos → wall. That is visibility done well. It is not RSVP chase or flyer → action in the parent thread.
In just the short time I’ve used it, the Skylight Calendar has helped streamline my family’s schedule… My 10-year-old even reminded me about his upcoming orthodontist appointment. … I’ve started thinking of the Skylight Calendar as a second brain or, as my 10-year-old calls it, a ‘remembering system.’
Now when my dad asks me something, I just point to the calendar. When the home health aid asks me, I point to the calendar… It’s not overtaxing my brain.

But, as with most technology, with this calendar I did face some technical glitches. One time, the app crashed when I was at the store trying to check my list. Another time, the ‘magic import’ didn’t seamlessly transfer an event to the calendar. And at some point, my son figured out that he could reward himself with stars — without having to complete the actual chore.
My husband and two teenagers have not been as avid as my 10-year-old. … Sometimes the Skylight Calendar feels more like a beautiful, expensive digital photo frame… I still remind everyone about doctor’s appointments… And I’m also not a fan of paying for yet another annual subscription.
We thought that $40 was excessive for any of those features to be locked in subscription. Now that they doubled the subscription price, we’re just going to return it to Costco. Totally bot worth it.
Not renewing because of the cost. I use it primarily as a photo display in the kitchen with the calendar as an added feature but I just don’t get $80 worth of value out of the subscription. … Huge disappointment. Will not recommend.

When a soft path to Zazu is honest
Use this path only when the pain is follow-through — school flyer / email / chat → options → approval → hold / RSVP / handoff — not when kids still need the week on the wall.
Zazu lives in WhatsApp: forward an invite or school email; it proposes options; it waits for an adult to choose; then it can act. It does not replace Skylight as a kitchen display. Many homes keep Skylight (or another wall / calendar) for visibility and add a concierge for execution. That stack is honest — count two habits and two costs.
