Alexa, Siri, and Gemini Live are not concierges
Hands-free is a surface. Follow-through is a product. The speaker on the counter is still waiting for a sentence.
Echo Show is in the kitchen because it was cheap and it plays music. Siri is on the lock screen because Apple already owns the pocket. Gemini is arriving in the same rooms because Google already owns the calendar. None of that is household coordination. It is proximity.
Alexa+ and Apple Intelligence are the current attempts to grow a mind on that rail. The bottleneck is not the model. It is whether two adults can share a working picture, and whether anything happens after “add it to the list” that is not a list.
What voice is actually for
Timers, lights, the next song, a quick fact with wet hands. That job is real. Onyt ranks it in Voice & home, not as a fake concierge. If your test is “can I talk to the house,” buy a speaker. If your test is “can the house finish the school email,” do not.
The wall is not the speaker
Skylight and Hearth are also in the kitchen. They are not voice assistants. They are shared displays. Confusing a wake word with a family graph is how Echo Show gets reviewed as a family OS. It is a speaker with a screen that can show a calendar you still have to maintain.
